BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville police arrested a 22-year-old Julius Castellon Monday morning following a standoff with police that lasted more than three hours on Gray Avenue.

According to Commander Tyler Wright of the Titusville Police Department, officers were called to the 4400 block of Gray Avenue around 9:42 a.m. on Nov. 24 after receiving reports that an armed individual was threatening family members inside a home.

Responding officers safely escorted the family out of the residence and identified the suspect as Julius D. Castellon of Titusville.

Investigators established probable cause for Castellon’s arrest and attempted to persuade him to surrender during phone conversations.

Police say Castellon refused and barricaded himself inside the home while detectives sought an arrest warrant.

Crisis negotiators remained in contact with Castellon for more than three hours, but he continued to decline surrender. The department’s SWAT team was then deployed, and Castellon surrendered as SWAT units began their response.

Castellon was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm (domestic violence) and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person subject to an injunction.

He is being held at the Brevard County Detention Center without bond.

“Today’s incident involving an armed, barricaded individual ended safely thanks to the exceptional teamwork of our patrol officers, SWAT team, crisis negotiators, and our incredible public safety telecommunicators,” said Sgt. Jennings, TPD SWAT Team Commander. “Their coordination, patience, and professionalism ensured a peaceful surrender with no injuries. We are grateful for the dedication of our officers and the support of our community as we work together to keep Titusville safe.”
