Tonight, I voted to reopen the government, a vote I never would have had to take in the first place if congressional Democrats hadn’t used federal funding as a political pawn in their tantrum against President Trump winning the 2024 election.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Tonight, I voted to reopen the government, a vote I never would have had to take in the first place if congressional Democrats hadn’t used federal funding as a political pawn in their tantrum against President Trump winning the 2024 election.

This was never about serious policy demands: It was a pointless, destructive protest that achieved NOTHING except for forcing millions of Americans to endure missed paychecks, delayed flights, fewer benefits, and other hardships.

Every ounce of blame for this shutdown sits squarely at the feet of Democrats in Congress—even tonight, all but 6 of them voted to keep the government closed!

We have a lot left to do for the American people this year, and I’m glad we can finally get back to work!
