BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA — Drivers in Palm Bay are being advised to plan ahead this weekend as the city prepares for its annual Holiday Light Parade, which will bring major road closures and traffic detours Saturday, December 6.
The 3-mile parade will leave the Eastern Florida State College campus and head north on San Filippo Drive.
It will then move west on Malabar Road and end at Minton Road, in front of City Hall. Dozens of brightly lit floats, high school marching bands, cheer squads, motorized vehicles, and more will delight the crowd and usher in the holiday season.
The parade is set to step off at 6 p.m., and multiple roadways will be closed throughout the evening to allow for staging, spectators, and the procession itself.
According to the City of Palm Bay, Community College Parkway will close at 3 p.m. to accommodate parade units as they assemble before the event. Additional closures will begin at 5 p.m. as law enforcement and city crews secure the parade route.
At that time, Malabar Road will be closed in both directions between San Filippo Drive and Minton Road. Minton Road will also be shut down between Malabar Road and Jupiter Boulevard, along with San Filippo Drive between Malabar Road and Jupiter Boulevard.

These closures encompass the core areas of parade activity and are designed to manage vehicle traffic and ensure pedestrian safety.
The city estimates the closures will remain in effect until approximately 10 p.m., when the parade is expected to conclude. However, officials note that roads will reopen gradually once barricades are removed and the area is declared clear of foot traffic.
Interstate travelers should also be prepared for changes during the event. During the parade, all northbound and southbound traffic exiting Interstate 95 will be redirected east onto Malabar Road, which could cause congestion in the surrounding areas.
Motorists traveling through Palm Bay during the event are encouraged to use Palm Bay Road or Babcock Street as alternate routes and to allow extra travel time.
City officials also urge drivers to use caution when navigating near the parade route, as increased pedestrian traffic is expected.
Residents and visitors planning to attend the parade are encouraged to arrive early, carpool where possible, and remain patient as traffic patterns adjust throughout the evening.
For the latest updates, the City of Palm Bay recommends monitoring local traffic alerts and city communication channels ahead of and during the event.
