35-Year-Old Man Dies After Crashing Disabled Car While Fleeing Titusville Police

A 35-year-old man was killed Thursday night after the vehicle he was driving crashed while fleeing from police in Titusville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at approximately 8:11 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the intersection of Barna Avenue and Nicklaus Drive in Brevard County. FHP said the man was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on Barna Avenue while actively fleeing the Titusville Police Department.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA — A 35-year-old man was killed Thursday night after the vehicle he was driving crashed while fleeing from police in Titusville on Friday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:11 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the intersection of Barna Avenue and Nicklaus Drive in Brevard County.

FHP said the man was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on Barna Avenue while actively fleeing the Titusville Police Department.

Investigators reported that the vehicle had been previously disabled with stop sticks during the pursuit.

Despite the damage, the sedan continued traveling south, leaving the roadway at times. FHP said the vehicle ultimately struck a palm tree, a fence and a sign.

The driver, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to Parrish Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed that next of kin have been notified.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not released information regarding the circumstances that led to the initial police pursuit.
