Former Bayside Bears wide receiver Michael Parkes has officially entered the transfer portal, seeking a fresh start after injuries sidelined him for much of his collegiate career at Iowa State.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Former Bayside Bears wide receiver Michael Parkes has officially entered the transfer portal, seeking a fresh start after injuries sidelined him for much of his collegiate career at Iowa State.

Parkes, who earned recognition on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, did not appear in a game during the 2024 or 2025 seasons while recovering from injuries sustained the previous year. He announced his intent to transfer following the conclusion of the 2025 campaign.

Parkes originally redshirted in 2023 and was expected to become a contributor before injuries disrupted his trajectory. Despite the setbacks on the field, he remained committed academically — an effort reflected in his conference academic honors.

Before college, Parkes starred at Bayside High School under thenhead coach Corey Broomfield. Rated a four-star prospect and the No. 35 wide receiver nationally by ESPN — and a three-star recruit by the 247Sports Composite — Parkes’ athleticism made him one of Central Florida’s most intriguing talents.

Born in Jamaica, Parkes grew up playing soccer before picking up American football in high school. His speed translated quickly, posting a personal-best 11.01 in the 100 meters on the track and showcasing big-play ability on the field. During the 2022 season, he recorded 27 catches for 406 yards, averaging 15 yards per reception, along with two receiving touchdowns and one passing touchdown.

His performance earned him FACA All-District 12 First-Team honors and a spot in the Brevard County South All-Star Game. He also held scholarship offers from Indiana and Mississippi State.

As Parkes enters the portal, he brings untapped potential, positional versatility, and proven resilience. With his health improving and multiple years of eligibility remaining, programs in need of speed and athletic upside at wide receiver will likely take a close look at the former Bayside standout.
