BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – MSC Cruises MSC Grandiosa arrived at Port Canaveral today to begin week-long sailings to the Caribbean and Bahamas from the Central Florida port.

As the second MSC Cruises ship based at Port Canaveral, the MSC Grandiosa joins the MSC Seashore which shifts to three- and four-day cruises, to provide cruise guests with a range of itinerary options departing from the world’s busiest cruise homeport.

“MSC is a valued partner, and we’re thrilled to have this beautiful new ship call Port Canaveral her home,” said Capt. John Murray, Port Canaveral CEO.

“The addition of MSC Grandiosa doubles their sailing options from our Port and speaks volumes to the confidence in our ability to consistently deliver a world-class guest experience.”

MSC Grandiosa is one of MSC Cruises’ largest and most modern ships, introduced in 2019 as part of the Meraviglia Plus class. At about 331 meters long and more than 181,000 gross tons, the ship can carry more than 6,300 passengers and over 1,700 crew members. Its size and design make it a floating resort aimed at families, couples, and groups who want a busy, activity-filled cruise experience.

The heart of the ship is the Galleria Grandiosa, an indoor promenade lined with shops, restaurants, cafés and bars. Above it stretches a massive LED dome that changes throughout the day and night with artistic displays, digital skylines and themed shows. The promenade becomes a gathering place for entertainment and nightlife.

Dining on Grandiosa includes a mix of main dining rooms, buffet options and à-la-carte specialty restaurants such as a French bistro, steakhouse, sushi bar, teppanyaki venue and tapas-style offerings. With more than 20 bars and lounges around the ship, guests generally have no shortage of places to relax or enjoy a drink.

Entertainment includes large-scale theater shows, live music around the ship, themed events, a 4D cinema, an arcade and a full water park with slides. Families often appreciate the kids’ clubs, which are divided by age groups and feature MSC partnerships like LEGO activities. Cabins range from simple interior rooms to balcony staterooms and large suites, including options for families who need connected or cluster-style rooms.

The ship was built with several environmental technologies, including systems that reduce nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide emissions, advanced wastewater treatment, energy-efficient lighting and design features that limit overall fuel use. It can also connect to shore power in ports that support it, reducing emissions while docked.

Passenger feedback varies. Many travelers praise the ship’s modern design, entertainment variety and family-friendly atmosphere. Others note that because the ship is so large, it can feel crowded during peak seasons. Common complaints include busy buffets, long waits for elevators and difficulty finding seating in popular areas. Some travelers also mention cabin noise depending on location, especially if a room is directly under a pool deck or high-traffic space.

Overall, MSC Grandiosa appeals most to travelers who enjoy big-ship energy, plenty of activities and a lively social atmosphere. It is a strong fit for families and groups who want a packed itinerary of entertainment, while travelers seeking quiet, intimate cruising often prefer smaller or more premium ships.
