BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Scarlett, an 11-year-old golden retriever with a lifetime of love and resilience behind her, is charming audiences as Sandy in the Cocoa Village Playhouse production of Annie, running through Dec. 14.
Born into a four-generation household of “golden girls,” Scarlett has spent her life helping her family and spreading joy. She has performed in school talent shows, run agility courses, and assisted her owner Suzanne as a service dog, often picking up dropped items or offering comfort when needed.
Her path to the stage has been anything but ordinary. Earlier this year, Scarlett was diagnosed with cancer. She underwent surgery, lost a kidney, completed chemotherapy and, in a moment her family will never forget, rang the cancer bell after her final treatment.

Now in remission, she is captivating audiences every night with her warmth and spirit.
Scarlett’s owners, Suzanne and Joyce, say she has always loved the spotlight, and her stage presence proves it.
Backstage, she relaxes calmly until her cue, and she bonded instantly with both young actresses playing Annie. At every performance, she confidently trots to the stage door, ready to work and ready to shine.
The production team says Scarlett brings an unmatched gentleness and charm to the role of Sandy, adding heart to an already beloved show.
Annie is playing through Dec. 14 at the Cocoa Village Playhouse.
