High Rip Current Risk at All Central Florida Atlantic Beaches; Wind Advisory Issued for Brevard County
By Space Coast Daily // February 15, 2026

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – People across Central Florida are being urged to exercise extreme caution Sunday as hazardous surf and windy conditions impact the region.
As of 1:45 p.m. Sunday, a high risk for numerous, strong, life-threatening rip currents exists at all Central Florida Atlantic beaches. The dangerous conditions stretch along the coastline, including beaches in Volusia County, Brevard County, and Indian River County.
Officials strongly advise against entering the water, particularly at unguarded beaches. Rip currents can quickly pull swimmers away from shore and pose a serious threat even to strong swimmers. Anyone caught in a rip current should remain calm, float, and swim parallel to the shoreline until out of the current before heading back to shore.
In addition to the hazardous beach conditions, a Wind Advisory remains in effect through 6 p.m. Sunday for Volusia County, Lake County, Seminole County, and Orange County.
Wind gusts up to 35 mph are expected within the advisory area, with gusts between 25 and 30 mph possible outside of it, including in Brevard County. The gusty conditions could make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles and may blow around unsecured outdoor objects.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose items, use caution while driving, and stay updated on the latest weather alerts throughout the afternoon.
