Brevard Public Schools (BPS) is proud to announce that Riviera Elementary School has been recognized as a 2026 Exceeding Expectations Award School by the East Coast Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC).

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools (BPS) is proud to announce that Riviera Elementary School has been recognized as a 2026 Exceeding Expectations Award School by the East Coast Technical Assistance Center (ECTAC).

Riviera is one of only 61 schools statewide identified for demonstrating exceptional student achievement and sustained academic growth among Florida’s highest‑poverty schools.

The Exceeding Expectations Project, launched in 2012, highlights schools that outperform expectations based on a comprehensive review of student performance.

Using 2025 School Grade data, ECTAC evaluated more than 3,400 schools across Florida. Riviera Elementary met the rigorous criteria established for this honor, which included:
– Overall student achievement
– Demonstrated learning gains
– Performance across ESSA subgroups
A high percentage of economically disadvantaged students

Riviera Elementary further distinguished itself through its commitment to the application process, submitting qualitative evidence that validated the school’s achievements and the effectiveness of its instructional practices.

Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell praised the school’s accomplishment, stating:

Riviera Elementary Principal Mary Beth Myers celebrated the recognition, sharing:
