BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard County man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he stole an ambulance while paramedics and a patient were still inside the vehicle.

According to law enforcement officials, Layne Featherngill was arrested following an incident in which he allegedly took control of an active ambulance, placing emergency personnel and a patient at serious risk.

Investigators say the ambulance was occupied by paramedics who were actively providing medical care to a patient in the rear compartment at the time of the theft.

Details surrounding how Featherngill gained access to the ambulance have not yet been fully released, but authorities confirmed the vehicle was unlawfully taken while in service.

No serious injuries to the paramedics or patient have been reported in connection with the incident.

Jail records indicate Featherngill is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail on no bond status.
