Volunteers in Medicine Host ‘Luau in the Himalaya’

Space Coast Volunteers in Medicine assists uninsured brevard county residents

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Last Sunday evening was host to a charitable night of Asian cuisine, music and dancing as the Space Coast Volunteers in Medicine ‘Luau in the Himalaya’ fund-raiser was held at the Himalayan Asian Bistro in Rockledge.
The nearly 75 volunteers and Good Samaritans who attended this fundraiser helped to insure the well-being of uninsured Brevard County residents in need of medical attention. The Clinic which helps folks with free medical, dental, and chiropractic care is one of seven in Florida, and part of the 91-member Volunteers In Medicine clinic alliance across the United States.
Excited guests Judy Rickling and Lorraine Lambert said they are, “thankful for all the work the clinic personnel are doing, and wish the best of luck in fund-raising for the cause.”
The Himalayan Asian Bistro provided guests with appetizers of spring roll, coconut shrimp, pot stickers, and edamame. The main course buffet included Home style Tofu, Shrimp and mixed vegetables, Buddha’s feast, spicy basil beef and broccoli with chicken.

To accompany the incredible array of food was complimentary beer and wine, as well as Raffle prizes, and live music. A well-known local duo, The Greg and Bryan Band, provided a variety of classic rock with a twist of humor and entertainment that had the crowd dancing the night away.
“All proceeds from the Luau benefit the Space Coast walk-ins, because at the clinic, free is truly free,” said Executive Director Paul Ringenberger.
It was a fun filled night that left all that attended with a feeling of fulfillment and joy. Knowing they had helped support a great program that needs crucial support from the community in order to keep its doors open and local residents healthy.
