Local Celebrities Ready To Strut Their Stuff For Needy
Dancing For the Space Coast, a unique competition and fundraising event that will benefit three worthy organizations on the Space Coast, will be held at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center on Saturday, June 6.
Dancing For the Space Coast will benefit the Brevard Public Safety Charity, who has earmarked the proceeds this year to be distributed to the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Scott Center For Autism and Serene Harbor.
This exciting event will feature 11 Space Coast community and business leaders, including Amy Boyson, Lila Buescher, William Capote, Katie Jacobus, Robert Jordan, Charlie Nash, Jackie Pantello,Rita Pritchett, Susan Vallette, Mason Williams and Milo Zonka.
BRAGGING RIGHTS ON THE LINE
Each celebrity dancer will be matched up with a professional dancer as they compete in a ballroom dance – and for bragging rights as the best dancer in Brevard.
On the evening of June 6, each dance pair will compete in a choreographed ballroom dance that will be scored by a panel of judges.
During the show, couples will earn scores based on several technical skill factors, but the judges’ scores alone don’t decide the dancer’s final score.
Leading up to the actual performance, the dancers will have already scored 60 percent of their points through their fundraising endeavors.
DANCER PROFILE: Amy Boyson
A born and raised Florida girl, Amy has lived in a variety of places around the state but found a place to call home when she moved to Brevard County in 2013.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Florida in Communications, with a track in Public Relations, and has worked at Waste Management as the Community Relations Manager for the Central/North part of Florida for the past seven years.
While most of her days are spent talking trash, literally, she also likes to give her time back to the local community.
She currently holds a board position with Brevard Health Alliance and Brevard Field of Dreams.
When Sheriff Ivey first approached Amy about dancing for the Space Coast her answer was “No, I am not dancing,” which received a response of, “oh yes you are!”
Difficult to say no to the Sheriff, and supporting such a worthy cause, here we are today.
Growing up, Amy’s parents spent countless dollars for dance lessons since the time she could walk so hopefully those lessons will pay off.
Amy is honored to be part of Dancing for the Space Coast to support local charities and will live by the phrase “Dance like nobody is watching!”
