Decorated Combat Veteran to Speak at Solaris Senior Living Veteran’s Day Celebration Set Nov. 8

Solaris Senior Living Merritt Island, a leading assisted living community in Brevard County, announced that retired U.S. Army Col. Stephen Bond will deliver a keynote presentation at the community’s Veteran’s Day celebration on Nov. 8. Colonel Bond is a 29-year veteran of the United States Army and the current Senior Vice President of the Military Officers Association of America.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Solaris Senior Living Merritt Island, a leading assisted living community in Brevard County, announced that retired U.S. Army Col. Stephen Bond will deliver a keynote presentation at the community’s Veteran’s Day celebration on Nov. 8.

Colonel Bond is a 29-year veteran of the United States Army and the current Senior Vice President of the Military Officers Association of America.

Bond is a veteran of combat operations in Panama and Kuwait and commanded units ranging from 40 to more than 450 assigned soldiers. His military awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Star Medal.

More recently, Bond served in a U.S. Government Senior Executive Service position as a Senior U.S. Intelligence Advisor to the Iraqi Ministries of Defense during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The annual Veteran’s Day event honors Americans that served in the line of duty and is open to all Solaris residents, their families, and the community.

“For years, our Solaris community has come together to show gratitude for those who have served in the military. We are very honored to announce Colonel Bond as our speaker,” said Amanda Williams, Administrator of Solaris Senior Living, at right.

The event begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, at Solaris Senior Living on Merritt Island, located at 535 Crockett Boulevard on Merritt Island.

“For years, our Solaris community has come together to show gratitude for those who have served in the military. We are very honored to announce Colonel Bond as our speaker,” said Amanda Williams, Administrator of Solaris Senior Living.

VITAS Healthcare is co-sponsoring the event and will present Solaris veterans with certificates of appreciation. A soloist will perform, and refreshments will follow.

The community is one of 16 healthcare facilities operated by Solaris Foundation, Inc., a Florida-based not-for-profit organization.
