BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Abram Walton, a professor at the Bisk College of Business, director of the university’s Center for Innovation Management & Business Analytics, and a deeply engaged community resource, has had a busy fall. Here’s a look at some highlights.

At the August board meeting of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast, Walton was re-elected to a two-year term as an at-large representative to the Board of Directors. He will continue to serve on the agency’s Executive Committee over that time, as well.

Walton’s work as a member of the International Council for Innovation Management Standards within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was published in September as part of the groundbreaking ISO 56001 standard, the world’s first international requirements standard for innovation management systems.

This standard “empowers organizations of all sizes to systematically manage innovation and realize great value, with expert contributions from over 50 countries,” ISO reports. Additionally, Walton serves as a U.S. delegate to ISO Technical Committee 307 for blockchain and also a liaison to the ISO Committee for Artificial Intelligence.

Walton leads the Analytics and Innovation Research Committee at HR Florida, the council representing human resources professionals in Florida. Since 2019, the committee has annually surveyed HR Florida’s 17,000 constituents to find out what topics and services are more valuable to them. The end results are in an article Walton co-authored for the agency’s recent newsletter, “We Asked, You Answered – 2024 HR Florida Voice of the Customer Update.”

With over 20 years of research experience, Walton has made significant contributions to innovation management, human capital management, leadership, business analytics, and product lifecycle management.
