Home Mitigation Assistance Grants Available Through Florida Division of Emergency Management’s Elevate Florida Program

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Brevard County homeowners can strengthen their homes against natural hazards through the Florida Division of Emergency Management’s Elevate Florida program.
This initiative provides financial assistance for home mitigation projects, helping residents protect their properties from severe weather events.
Eligible Brevard County residents can apply for assistance with the following mitigation projects:
● Structure Elevation – Raising homes above base flood levels to reduce flooding risk.
● Mitigation Reconstruction – Rebuilding homes when elevation is not feasible.
● Acquisition/Demolition – Purchasing and removing properties in high-risk areas.
● Wind Mitigation – Enhancing structures to withstand hurricane-force winds.
Federal grants support the program, covering approximately 75% of the project cost. Homeowners are responsible for the remaining balance.
To qualify, applicants must:
● Be residents of Brevard County.
● Own the property they are applying for.
● Be U.S. citizens and at least 18 years old.
