Melbourne Police Arrest Juvenile for Series Vandalism Incidents Along Pineapple Avenue

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department has concluded its investigation into a series of vandalism incidents that occurred along Pineapple Avenue in early March, resulting in the arrest of a juvenile suspect.
According to authorities, the vandalism took place during the early morning hours of March 2, 2025, and targeted both private and public property in the area between West Eau Gallie Boulevard and Riverview Drive. Among the damaged sites was the Jesus is Lord Church at 2008 Pineapple Avenue.
Multiple signs, structures, and city-owned properties were defaced with hate speech, racial slurs, and other offensive language and symbols.
Working in partnership with the Brevard County School District and local community members, Melbourne detectives were able to identify the individual responsible for the vandalism. Investigators also discovered that the same juvenile had previously committed a similar offense on January 20, 2025, in a residential neighborhood near Parkway Drive and Stewart Road.
Following coordination with state prosecutors, the suspect was formally charged with Felony Criminal Mischief, with hate crime enhancements. A take-into-custody order was issued, and the juvenile was apprehended on April 4, 2025.
The suspect has since been turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
