Anderson placed on paid administrative leave days after being assigned to a new school

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard County teacher has been placed on administrative leave following her reassignment to a new school and ongoing investigations into her involvement in a house party attended by approximately 200 underage individuals, some of whom were reportedly consuming alcohol.
Karly Anderson, formerly a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School, was reassigned to Saturn Elementary earlier this week, prompting concern from parents as details of the investigation continued to emerge.
The incident in question stems from a January gathering at a private residence in Cocoa Beach, reportedly hosted by the school’s principal.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Brevard County School Board member Matt Susin confirmed that Anderson has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of both her court case and an internal district investigation.
Anderson is currently facing two misdemeanor charges: disorderly conduct and disorderly intoxication. She was initially charged with felony child abuse, but the charge was later reduced by prosecutors in the 18th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.
The controversy intensified following the release of police body-camera footage related to the incident. While footage involving minors has not been made public, other portions of the video show law enforcement interactions with Anderson and the school principal who hosted the party.
