Early Morning Fatal Motorcycle Crash Under Investigation by Melbourne Police Traffic Unit

Yet-to-be identified Motorcyclist Dies After Bike Overturns on U.S. 1 Shoulder

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — A motorcyclist was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash along U.S. 1 in Melbourne, according to Melbourne Police Sergeant Benjamin Slover.
Sgt. Slover said the department received a call around 5:12 a.m. on September 29 about a motorcycle down in the 1800 block of North Harbor City Boulevard.
The caller told dispatchers the rider was pinned beneath the bike.
When officers arrived, they found the motorcycle overturned on the east shoulder of the roadway. The rider was discovered trapped under the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Sgt. Slover, the motorcycle left the roadway before coming to rest on the shoulder, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is leading the investigation.
