FHP: One Dead, One Seriously Injured in I-95 Truck Crash in Brevard County

Fatal Crash Shuts Down Northbound I-95 in Mims

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday morning on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, shutting down all northbound lanes for several hours.
According to FHP, the crash involving two semi-trucks with trailers happened at approximately 9:04 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near mile marker 228 in the Mims area.
The driver of the semi-truck, identified as a 63-year-old man from Orlando, was not injured and was not transported from the scene, troopers said.
The driver of the CMTI truck, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the CMTI truck, also pending identification, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
All northbound lanes of I-95 remain blocked as troopers conduct the investigation. Traffic is being diverted off the interstate at State Road 46. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
The sequence of events leading up to the crash is still under investigation. Florida Highway Patrol officials said additional information will be released once it becomes available.
The investigation is being handled by FHP Troop D.
