BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team continued its red-hot run Saturday night, delivering one of its most impressive performances of the season with an 81–67 Citrus Conference win over nationally ranked Florida Southwestern at Titan Field House.

The victory marked the Titans’ eighth straight win and improved their Citrus Conference record to 9–3, further solidifying Eastern Florida State as a serious postseason contender.

It also snapped any doubt about the Titans’ momentum, as they controlled the contest from start to finish against the No. 21-ranked Buccaneers.

Eastern Florida wasted no time setting the tone. Sophomore guard Misael Cruz Rodriguez ignited the offense early, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and adding another basket to score eight quick points.

His early surge fueled a 19–8 run that forced Florida Southwestern into an early timeout. Cruz Rodriguez stayed aggressive, later extending the lead to 23–10 with another basket as the Titans’ defense suffocated the Bucs’ perimeter attack.

The Titans’ advantage grew to as many as 16 points in the first half before Florida Southwestern responded with an 8–0 run to tighten the margin. However, Eastern Florida answered just before the break, when Sean Register Jr. converted a basket in the closing seconds to send the Titans into halftime with a commanding 44–33 lead.

Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball player Sean Register Jr. was named the FCSAA Division I Player of the Week last week and delivered a standout performance Saturday night, finishing with a game-high 29 points in the Titans’ 81–67 Citrus Conference win over nationally ranked Florida Southwestern at Titan Field House. Eastern Florida picked up right where it left off in the second half. Register Jr. took control early, scoring eight of the Titans’ first 10 points after intermission to stretch the lead to 19.

The Titans continued to execute efficiently on both ends of the floor, highlighted by a Cruz Rodriguez three-point play that made it 77–58 and all but sealed the outcome.

Florida Southwestern mounted one final push late, trimming the deficit, but Eastern Florida calmly closed out the game, never allowing the Bucs to seriously threaten down the stretch.

Register Jr. delivered a standout performance, finishing with a game-high 29 points. Cruz Rodriguez posted a spectacular triple-double, tallying 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in one of the most complete performances of the season.

Djiby Ly also made a key contribution, adding 15 points to give the Titans three double-figure scorers.

Florida Southwestern was led by Mason Blazer, who scored 19 points, while Kenyon Giles and Tyler Bey each chipped in 15 points in the loss.

With confidence surging, Eastern Florida now turns its attention to the road. The Titans will travel to face Hillsborough Community College next Saturday in a Citrus Conference matchup scheduled for 4 p.m. Eastern Florida will then return home on Wednesday, Feb. 25, to host Indian River State College.
