City of Palm Bay Partners with Brevard County on Babcock Street Reconstruction Project
By Space Coast Daily // February 25, 2026
BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The City of Palm Bay has entered into an interlocal agreement with Brevard County to reconstruct and resurface Babcock Street between Weiman Road and Willowbrook Street, improving a key north-south corridor for drivers in the area.
Because the City of Palm Bay and Brevard County each maintain different portions of Babcock Street, the County will serve as the lead agency for the project.
County officials will oversee construction operations, while the City will inspect work completed within its municipal limits and coordinate closely with the County throughout the duration of the project.
Construction is scheduled to begin Wednesday night, March 4, 2026.
To minimize impacts to daytime traffic, work will take place overnight from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The project is expected to last approximately three weeks, weather permitting.
Message boards have already been installed along the corridor to alert motorists of the upcoming construction activity.
Drivers traveling through the area during overnight hours should expect possible lane closures and are encouraged to use caution, reduce speed, and follow posted signage.
City and County officials say the improvements will enhance roadway conditions, increase safety, and extend the lifespan of the pavement along this heavily traveled stretch of Babcock Street.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time while the project is underway.
