BCC Titans Ready For Showdown Against Broward College

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard Community College Titans remain as the No. 3 ranmked women’s soccer squad in the nation in the weekly NJCAA poll as it prepares for its first Florida College System Activities Association game today at Broward College.
BCC, 3-1, plays Broward and Polk State College a total of six times to determine which one team from the Florida College System Activities Association advances to the NJCAA postseason.
The playoffs culminate with the Nov. 11 to 17 national championship tournament at Melbourne Central Catholic High school in Melbourne.
BCC and Broward meet at 3 p.m. today at Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City.
The Titans’ scheduled Tuesday night game at Polk was postponed until 7 p.m. Oct. 8 because of heavy rain.
Polk is 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the FCSAA thanks to a 5-2 victory against Broward on Sept. 8. It is ranked seventh in the NJCAA poll and eighth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll where Brevard is ranked 10th.
Broward is 2-2-1 and unranked.
“The poll is what it is,” BCC head coach Jeff Carr said. “It’s raters’ opinions. It does put a target on your back.”
BCC was ranked No. 1 in the nation for the week of Sept. 5. But no one is looking back. It’s what’s ahead that matters.
“I was a little disappointed that we were not able to play Polk on Tuesday night,” Carr said. “We will now focus our energy on preparing for Broward which will be a very difficult game.”
