Robert Hughes is a native of coastal North Carolina and was reared there and in Bermuda. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Hughes became a journalist because he thinks everyone has interesting stories to tell, and he wants to share them. Robert was a newspaper editor for 10 years in North Carolina before spending a decade as a newspaper editor in Florida and a couple years as a free-lance travel writer, during which he toured every continent except Antarctica. He moved from Fort Lauderdale to Brevard County and loves it here, waking up each morning to find himself in paradise. A lover of sports and the outdoors, Robert is an avid cyclist who races occasionally, as well as a kayaker and backpacker. He has hiked the entire Appalachian and Florida Trails. . He serves on the board for the Space Coast Audubon Society and enjoys the animals and their human visitors at the Brevard Zoo serving as a volunteer. Robert has written and edited stories on all subjects, but especially sports, the outdoors and business.
