New Poll Reveals Troubling Stat for Cruise Lines

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A recent poll conducted by Rasmussen revealed 45% of tourists less likely to take a vacation on a travel cruise ship.
Rasmussen polled 1,000 American adults from May 26 and May 27. Recent news reports on cruise emergencies at sea including engine issues, fires and power outages were cited as the cause for the trend. In the same survey, 54% osay they or a family member has taken a vacation on a cruise ship.
PORT CANAVERAL LEADS FLORIDA IN GROWTH
The results of the Rasmussen poll coincides with a report from Florida Trend magazine that touts Port Canaveral as Florida’s exemplary port.
“Port Canaveral continues to lead the recovery, setting records in 2012 for the second straight year for cruise traffic volume and port revenue. During the past two years, multiday cruise passenger traffic surged 38% to 3.76 million from 2.72 million in fiscal 2010. The number of port-of-call visits by ships, primarily single-day visitors, rose from 86 to 123. Total port revenue surged 17% for the year to a record of more than $68 million.” – Florida Trend
