Steve Crisafulli: This month, Gov. Rick Scott announced that Florida has set a new record for tourist arriving in the state during the first quarter of 2016. 29.8 million visitors from January through March surpassed last years record of 28.5 million visitors.

Florida is continuing on an 8 year low for unemployment with nearly 29,000 new jobs created last month. Florida’s private sector job growth rate has exceeded the nation for more than four years.

Here are some facts from April’s report:
• Private-sector industries gaining the most jobs over the year in April were education and health services with 6,000 new jobs, and professional and business services and construction tied with 4,400 new jobs each.
• Florida job postings showed 269,535 openings in April 2016.
• In April, Florida’s 24 regional workforce boards reported more than 35,386 Floridians, including 1,664 veterans, were placed in jobs.
