FPRA Space Coast Chapter’s Michael Gardner, Autumn Shrum Earn Professional Designations

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association is pleased to congratulate two of its members on achieving professional designations in the field of public relations.
Michael Gardner, APR, CPRC, recently became Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC).
The CPRC credential is an opportunity and member benefit, exclusively available to FPRA members who have earned Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in public relations.
CPRC candidates are required to pass a written exam with essay topics drawn from case studies and give a presentation to a panel of certified evaluators.
Gardner is Director of Communications for Christian Care Ministry in Melbourne. He previously worked as Vice President of Marketing and Communications for VNA of the Treasure Coast.
He holds a bachelor’s degree English from Penn State University and a master’s degree in Publications Design from the University of Baltimore. He is a past president of the Space Coast FPRA and currently serves as Member-at-Large on the chapter’s board.

Autumn Shrum, APR, recently became Accredited in Public Relations (APR).
The APR designation is recommended for public relations professionals who have a minimum of five years’ experience.
The accreditation program, administered by a Universal Accreditation Board, recognizes individuals who have broad knowledge, experience, and judgement in the field. Candidates for APR are required to sit for a panel presentation and pass a computer-based examination.
Shrum is Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne. She previously served as Marketing and Membership Coordinator for the King Center and as a reporter for Florida Today newspaper.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations and a master’s degree in English from the University of Central Florida. She is currently the VP of Communications for the Space Coast FPRA.
