Brevard County Sheriff’s Office K-9 ‘Merle’ Takes A Bite Out of Crime

Timothy James Paul arrested
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – If you are thinking about committing Domestic Violence in Brevard County I would recommend that you don’t, but if you decide to ignore that sound advice don’t compound your mistake by running from our K-9’s and deputies who are coming to take you to jail!
Last night, deputies responded to a reported Domestic Violence incident in Cape Canaveral where the suspect, Timothy James Paul, decided to run from the scene before the deputies arrived.
Unfortunately for him, he forgot that we have deputies with four legs and big snouts who can track suspects who are fleeing from justice.
K-9 Merle and his handler Adam Steuerwald responded to the area where K-9 Merle went to work to track the suspect. After locating the suspect, he refused to comply and resisted arrest.
At that point, K-9 Merle took a bite out of crime and showed that he does not tolerate Domestic Violence or Resisting Arrest!
So to those who didn’t get the earlier memo, don’t EVER commit Domestic Violence, but if you can’t help yourself you better not do it in Brevard County. Our deputies, state attorney, and our citizens will not tolerate it!
Oh yeah – and K-9 Merle won’t tolerate someone running from our deputies. If you commit a crime, don’t make it worse by running and putting others at risk!
