Two people and a dog were rescued from the Indian River after a twin-engine Piper PA-23 aircraft crash-landed just off the shore of Melbourne Beach near the Beachwood condominiums along River Villa Way on Tuesday afternoon, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue..

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. — Two people and a dog were rescued from the Indian River after a twin-engine Piper PA-23 aircraft crash-landed just off the shore of Melbourne Beach near the Beachwood condominiums along River Villa Way on Tuesday afternoon, according to Brevard County Fire Rescue.

The aircraft went down around 2 p.m. near the 3100 block of River Villa Way, and first responders quickly arrived on the scene and pulled the pilot, a passenger, and a dog from the water using a rescue vessel.

None of the occupants were injured, according to authorities.

Authorities have not released information on the plane’s flight plan, and the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
