Dr. Richard Levine Co-Authors Article In ‘Journal of Oncology Practice’

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Richard Levine, MD, Principle Investigator of the Clinical Trials Department at Space Coast Cancer Center, co-authored an article which was published in the July 10, 2012 editon of the Journal of Oncology Practice.

The article is entitled: Effects of a Brief Multimedia Psycho Educational Intervention on the Attitudes and Interests of Patients With Cancer Regarding Clinical Trial Participation: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial. The purpose of the study was to determine if a brief discussion with patients regarding clinical trials has a positive impact in their willingness to participate in clinical trials.

Dr. Levine, President of Space Coast Cancer Center, and a respected physician in the community since 1983, has been recognized as a member of “Best Doctors of America” on three occasions. A Board Certified Medical Oncologist, Dr. Levine has earned this honor in which physicians are nominated by their peers in their specialty.

Implementing and Monitoring Clinical Pathways
As one of five Moffitt affiliates in Florida that participate in the Florida Initiative for Quality Cancer Care, Space Coast Cancer Center was the first practice in Florida – and the second in the United States – to collaborate with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center implementing and monitoring clinical pathways for patients’ chemotherapy treatments that are compliant with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Guidelines.
Dr. Levine is a Past President of the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, Parrish Medical Center Medical Staff, the Brevard County Unit of the American Cancer Society and is a member of several area and state advisory boards.
