Brevard Cultural Alliance is pleased to announce the launch of a new Exterior Sculpture Program initiative. Lynne Brezina, Art Installation Program Manager for BCA enlisted the assistance of Harak Rubio, an internationally known sculptor, to develop guidelines for exterior sculpture installations and to initiate this innovative program.

The initiative began when The Knowledge Exchange located at 5151 Babcock St., Palm Bay contacted the BCA and expressed interest in having a sculpture installed at their new facility in Palm Bay to serve the community and the arts. The Knowledge Exchange is an education resource and conference center providing curriculum, educational materials, andseveral state-of-the-art meeting rooms capable of supporting 20 to 80 people.

The first sculpture, “The Ocean’s Guardian”, was created by sculptor Harak Rubio specifically to launch this program. This original work will be installed at The Knowledge Exchange in mid- September and will remain on display for approximately 6 months. At the conclusion of the display period, the sculpture will be offered for sale to the public and corporations in Brevard County. A different sculpture will then be installed at The Knowledge Exchange. There are only a handful of loaned sculpture programs in Florida and this is the first for Brevard County.

Harak Rubio and his family reside in Melbourne, but he travels extensively between Puerto Rico and Florida. He is a sculptor and painter and also has a career in production of movies, commercials and videos. He has worked with Miramax Films, Animal Planet, MTV, Lifetime Movies and others.
The vision shared by the Brevard Cultural Alliance and The Knowledge Exchange is to have sculptures installed at many businesses throughout Brevard County, vividly illustrating their support of the arts in our community. For more information on how sculptors and businesses can participate in the program contact Brevard Cultural Alliance, Lynne Brezina at (321) 690-6817.For more information on The Knowledge Exchange, visit www.theknowledgeexchange.com
