Early Morning Crash Kills Mims Driver

Not Wearing Seatbelt

BREVARD COUNTY • MIMS, FLORIDA – A crash shortly before 6 a.m. Friday killed a driver from Mims on I-95 near mile marker 222 in north Brevard County.

Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said Dana Rutherford of Mims, 58, was driving south on I-95 at 5:50 this morning when his 2006 Toyota pickup truck suddenly veered off the roadway and onto the shoulder.

Montes said that the pickup overturned twice and Rutherford, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

Rutherford was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Montes said.
