BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Deny Lammardo is doing her part to help homeless veterans in Brevard and is looking for a big turnout Saturday at the 1st annual USA Thrift Store Yard Sale in Melbourne.

Lammardo, who runs USA Thrift along with her partner Don Hyland, opened the store last year in an effort to provide assistance to the more than 600 homeless American veterans living in Brevard County.

It is a lifeline for homeless veterans in the area offering them telephone and internet access, clothing, tents and guidance about available services.

The thrift store strives to provide the community of indigent vets living in local wooded and undeveloped areas with the basic needs of outdoor life and ease the daily burdens that they face.

Lammardo said anyone who wishes to set up a table may participate in the yard sale at no cost, but they must bring their own tables for the event.

Donations for the thrift store are appreciated, but nor required to participate in the yard sale.

She said set up for the sale begins at 7 a.m.

Sellers may come Friday night before to set up a table or put up a canopy, but Lammardo said she does not suggest leaving yard sale items unattended overnight.

USA Thrift Shop is at 1442 N. Harbor City Blvd. in Melbourne.
