BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — As shark fans across country count down the days to Discover Channel’s famous “Shark Week”, many of the shows will educate viewers about the low risk of shark attacks compared to other daily hazards.
For Florida residents on the coast, including Brevard County residents, the International Shark Attack File serves as an insightful resource complete with data about shark behavior and attack patterns.
Below, you will see the breakdown of shark attacks by month. The month of September has had more shark attacks than any month, with 103 attacks between 1926-2012. August has the second highest amount, with 84, followed by July with 73 and October with 72.
