‘Lone Survivor’ Tops Brevard Box Office Last Weekend

Takes In An Impressive $38.5 million Nationwide
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Lone Survivor has taken in an impressive $38.5 million at the box office over last weekend, as well as securing a A+ CinemaScore rating, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Based on The New York Times bestselling true story of heroism, courage and survival, Lone Survivor tells the incredible tale of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-Qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Faced with an impossible moral decision, the small band is isolated from help and surrounded by a much larger force of Taliban ready for war. As they confront unthinkable odds together, the four men find reserves of strength and resilience as they stay in the fight to the finish.
Lone Survivor is and directed by Peter Berg, and stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana. The film is based on the nonfiction book of the same name by Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson.

Lone Survivor opened in limited release in the U.S. on Christmas Day and opened across North America last Friday to strong financial success and critics praised Berg’s direction, as well as the acting, story, visuals and battle sequences.
