BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Buckaroo Ball, a Country Western-themed fundraising event to benefit Harmony Farms, drew cowboys and cowgirls from throughout Brevard to dance, dine and bid on art – including four water colors completed in a four artist, 75-minute “paint around.”
All of the artists whose works were auctioned at the event, donated 20 percentof their sales to Harmony Farms.
Harmony Farms is a volunteer-based charity, providing equine assisted therapy for disabled individuals of all ages, aimed at improving their quality of life.
“In most cases these individuals’ physical challenges preclude their participating in other types of sports,” explains Harmony Farms Board Member Dana Robertson.
The horseback therapy, which includes bonding with the horses, helps build confidence, balance and muscle tone to the extent that many participants are able to move on to sports that require greater physical ability.
Located in Viera, the center is a member of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PathIntl).
