St. Augustine Nips Mims 5-4 For Section 3 Title

MIMS BEATS PALM COAST TO GET TO TITLE GAME

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Little League All-Star play continued with District 22’s Mims Little League hosting the Section 3 Junior Baseball Tournament at Holder park.

All three games were completed with the following results:

Little League All-Star play continued with District 22’s Mims Little League hosting the Section 3 Junior Baseball Tournament at Holder park.

• In the first game of the day, St. Augustine Little League (District 11) were the visitors and they defeated Palm Coast Little League (District 19) by the score of 16-2 in 5 innings. For St. Augustine, Tres Corrigan reached base all four times at bat and scored three times. Charlie Alfano scored both Palm Coast runs.

• In the second game, Mims Little League (District 22) were the visitors against Palm Coast (District 19). Mims won 21-5 in 7 innings. as Levi Vaughn reached base five of his six times at bat and scored five of Mims’ runs, while Layne Cayton reached base all six at bats, going 5-for-5 and reaching on an error in the seventh inning.

• This set-up the third game of the day as a winner-take-all matchup between Mims (District 22) and St. Augustine (District 11).

Mims received runs from Hayden Oxendine, Frank Kuzara and Mark Arden, before Blake Newberry tied up the score at 4 in the seventh inning.

However, St. Augustine’s Mason Money scored twice, adding to Sean Bradford and Tres Corrigan’s runs, while James Drysdale scored the winning run off of Simon Jamieson’s seventh inning double to lift St. Augustine to a 5-4 victory.

St. Augustine will represent Section 3 at the Junior Baseball State Tournament hosted by Federal Little League at Floyd Hull Stadium in Fort Lauderdale beginning Friday, July 25th.
