BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE – A lifeguard training course will be held Oct. 4-18 at McLarty Park Pool in Rockledge.

Classes will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4; 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 10; and noon to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 11, 17 1nd 18. The cost is $250 and must be paid upon successful completion of a skills test at 4 p.m. Oct. 4. Preregistration is recommended as class size is limited. A minimum of five participants is required to hold the class. McLarty Park Pool is at 790 Barton Blvd., Rockledge.

This course has an online component. In addition, all classes must be attended. Interested candidates must be 15 years of age or older, able to swim 300 yards nonstop doing freestyle or backstroke, complete a timed 10-pound brick retrieval, and tread water for two minutes using legs only.

Upon completion, candidates will receive American Red Cross certification in Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR for Professional Rescuer.
