BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A suspect in multiple overnight burglaries was shot in the yard of a residence on Foothill Drive in Titusville just after 12 midnight on Sunday by a nearby resident, who is also an off-duty deputy, according to the Titusville Police Department.
The suspect, identified by police as Wilford McCloud, 32, of Titusville, is facing multiple charges in the incident including several burglaries in the Foothill Drive area, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Brevard County Sheriff’s Agent Jessie Holton had been alerted by another resident of burglaries in progress. According to police, McCloud violently resisted arrest and Holton responded to the threat, discharging his firearm.

The Titusville Police Department is conducting the investigation concerning the incident. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is also conducting an independent and parallel investigation into the Use of Force.
Sheriff’s Agent Holton is an eight-year employee with the Sheriff’s Office and a decorated combat veteran serving with the U.S. Marines. He was placed on paid Administrative Leave, which is a common practice in investigations of this nature.
