49th Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – New England Patriots obliterated the Indianapolis Colts, 45-7, in the AFC championship game on Sunday to advance to Super Bowl 49.
Patriots now face the defending champion Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 1 in Glendale, Arizona.
Tom Brady beat Andrew Luck and the Patriots quarterback is going to his sixth Super Bowl. He’s lost his last two to the Giants, who won’t be there waiting for him this time.
But the Patriots did lose the Super Bowl to the Giants in Glendale in 2007, finishing the season 18-1.
The Patriots have eliminated the Colts in the playoffs the past two seasons.
New England (14-4) started with a 14-point lead in the first half, then broke it open in a driving rain with three third-quarter touchdowns and another to start the fourth.
That made it the second-most lopsided game in AFC championship history.
Brady completed 23 of 35 passes for 226 yards. Blount ran 30 times for 148 yards.
Andrew Luck completed 12 of 33 passes for 126 yards with two interceptions for the Colts (13-6).
