BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The program “Breakfast With the Chief,” gave the community sponsors, civic leaders and residents the opportunity to meet with Cocoa Police Chief Michael Cantaloupe on Thursday morning.
The breakfast dish of the morning was chicken and waffles.
Well-respected in the law enforcement community, Chief Cantaloupe has been with the Cocoa Police Department for 24 years.
He has served in a variety of positions, including Patrol Watch Commander, Community Relations Unit, SWAT, Crisis Negotiation Team, Special Investigations Unit and Internal Affairs.
Proceeds from the event went on to provide funds for the Cocoa Police Athletic League and other community programs aimed towards helping local kids.
“It was a great turnout,” said Chief Cantaloupe.
“We wanted to bring in our local community partners and we wanted to show our appreciation for all that they do because all of the programs we do is a community effort. We threw the chicken and waffles in there, in hope, that people would remember this event.”
SWAT team members and the K-9 unit were also in attendance, as the K-9 unit gave a demonstration on some of the examples they use out in the field.
