BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Hundreds of business leaders across Central Florida poured into the new Cruise Terminal 1 in Port Canaveral Thursday morning for the annual State of the Port Address.
CEO of Port Canaveral, John Walsh, laid out his plan for the future and the exciting projects that are coming to the Port.
Walsh also addressed some of the recent partnerships the Port has made recently, to make Port Canaveral the pinnacle of the port industry. One of the recent partnerships is with Gulftainer.
“Cargo is continuing to grow and they are a quality company that understands international commerce,” said Walsh.
“We can grow, we can have commerce, we can build efficiency and we don’t need to give up our quality of life to do so.”
Also in attendance was Group Managing Director of Gulftainer, Peter Richards, where he made it known how excited he and his company are to be working with Port Canaveral.
“Gulftainer operates 15 terminals worldwide. We are trusted by governments worldwide, the world bank and many other reputable organizations to do the job we do with integrity, honesty and transparency,” said Peter Richards.
“We came here because we believe in Port Canaveral and we believe we can add value to the Port. We have the expertise, the knowledge and past experiences to improve Canaveral as a cargo logistics hub.”
“We don’t get involved in politics or anything thats not port operations, that’s what we restrict ourselves to and thats how why we’ve been so successful wherever we go. We always make sure we do right. We are here because we believe in Port Canaveral,” said Richards.
Gulftainer is a privately owned, independent port management and 3PL logistics company based in United Arab Emirates (UAE) and for more than 38 years has been delivering a world-class performance to their customers.
Afterwards, many had positive reviews of the address and applauded the vision leaders have for the Port. Wayne Justice, who serves as Port Commissioner, believes the pieces are in place for the Port to excel for many years to come.
“Another dynamic presentation by John Walsh,” said Port Commissioner Wayne Justice.
“He outlined all four assets of port development: cruise, cargo, real estate and retail. It’s been an exciting last year and looking more dynamic next year.”
“Peter Richards had the people standing on their feet, talking about development potential. We have a world class partner that is going to do a tremendous job for this region. It’s a vibrant and exciting time,” said Justice.
