BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Sun Trust Bank on Merritt Island near the Merritt Square mall Monday as the result of an unattended package.

The mall is not affected and traffic operation has resumed to normal in the area, according to Cpl. Dave Jacobs, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer and Media Relations Liaison

“The employees were temporarily evacuated from the building during the investigation as a routine precautionary measure,” said Cpl. Jacobs.

“The package has been deemed safe and normal operation of the business has resumed.”
