BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE FLORIDA – Although only two exhibition games into the season the Florida Tech men’s soccer team appears to be in good form as the Panthers scored three times on the way to a 3-0 win over Division I opponent Jacksonville at Southern Oak Stadium Saturday night.

“It was a good days work,” said head coach Robin Chan. “Jacksonville has some talented athletes so I was pleased to see us rise to the challenges today. I thought we put in the necessary work and it was a good, collective, disciplined performance, particularly without the ball.
“We haven’t spent a lot of time working on our ideas with the ball yet so we’ll have some good points of focus for us next week before our final preseason game. All around we were happy with the effort but we recognize we still have a lot of work to do before the season starts.”
Just like in the first exhibition game against Warner, Adin Kavara put a check in the scoring column, besting the keeper from five yards out in the 13th minute. Freshman Jan Hlavica also tallied a goal, scoring on a header in the box from a free kick in the 40th minute.
Senior midfielder John Bocinsky put the final nail in the coffin, finding the net off a Jack Willison assist in the 89th minute.
The Panthers will wrap up the preseason next Saturday, Aug. 29 at Clayton State in Morrow, Georgia. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET. FIT opens the regular season on Sept. 4 against Union at 7 p.m. in Jackson, Tennessee.
