ABOVE VIDEO: Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey provided an update on Monday afternoon on the condition of wounded Sheriff’s Agent Casey Smith during a press conference at Port Canaveral.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey provided an update on Monday afternoon on the condition of wounded Sheriff’s Agent Casey Smith during a press conference at Port Canaveral.

Sheriff Ivey said that Agent Smith underwent three surgeries since Saturday and remains in critical, but stable condition, and has shown positive signs in his recovery at Orlando Regional Medical Center since being shot last Thursday night.

Sheriff Ivey thanked the public for their strong support and gave special mention to Brevard County Fire Rescue and the surgical team at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge for saving Agent Smtih’s life.

After Agent Smith was critically wounded, he was transported to Wuesthoff Medical Center by Brevard County Fire Rescue after the shooting.
