The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is very pleased to announce that Sheriff Wayne Ivey was presented the 2015 Central Brevard Humane Society’s “Richard H. Stottler Jr. Humanitarian Award” as presented Saturday night at the Fourth Annual Tuxes and Tails Gala.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is very pleased to announce that Sheriff Wayne Ivey was presented the 2015 Central Brevard Humane Society’s “Richard H. Stottler Jr. Humanitarian Award” on Saturday night during the Fourth Annual Tuxes and Tails Gala held at the Cocoa Civic Center.

The Richard H. Stottler Jr. Humanitarian Award in an annual recognition of a citizen or community leader who is dedicated and committed to the support of homeless animals in our community.

The award namesake is in honor of Richard H. Stottler Jr. who both loved and supported our helpless and homeless animals.

The honorary hosts of the Tux and Tails Gala, Susie and Tom Wasdin, presented the fun-filled event.

Mike & Mindy of Lite Rock 99.3 FM and Rick Roach were the event Emcee’s.

The program included star performances from the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse Presenters, live & silent auctions, complimentary Pawtinis & Barkaritas, a buffet dinner, festive dance music, and a special presentation to recognize community leaders who have significantly contributed to the organization’s success.

Tom Wasdin’s stint at Cocoa Beach High School lasted long enough for him to meet the love of his life, Susie, 1967 Cocoa Beach High homecoming queen and sister to Vern, Wasdin’s basketball team captain. (SpaceCoastDaily.com image)

This elegant evening serves as a major fundraiser for the Central Brevard Humane Society, proceeds raised are used to continue renovation on the aged 5,300 square foot shelter.

The facility has housed and cared for thousands and thousands of unwanted, abandoned and abused pets over the years, and is in great need of repair.

A truly unique organization deeply rooted in Brevard, the Central Brevard Humane Society is a “no kill for space” facility, self-sustaining, receiving no support from your tax dollars.

All of their funding comes through donations, their four Molly Mutt Thrift Shops, fundraisers, other pet related services and their Merritt Island Adoption Center.
