BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Full pads always helps the coaches get a lot more out of their student-athletes, and that process began for the Knights on Sunday.
“I thought we improved in some areas, some areas we’ve got to do a lot of improvement (such as) blocking, tackling, not moving our feet on contact,” head coach George O’Leary said.
“Overall I thought the effort was good, I thought the quarterbacks improved today on timing and the routes. I was pleased there.”
The Knights spent a good chunk of Sunday’s session on tackling drills and driving their feet through the play.
The afternoon also saw UCF run a short segmented scrimmage with both the offense and the defense both on the sideline.
The first-team offense went up against the second-team defense and vice versa, while the third teams battled each other.

“I think we got a lot of installation in,” O’Leary said.
“I was pleased with the execution. There weren’t a lot of penalties out there. The big thing now is we got to get better at the fundamentals of football – blocking and tackling. That is what the game is about.”
Practice No. 6 is on the docket for Monday.
