BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team brushed off a slow start to defeat Southwestern Illinois College 4-0 Sunday morning.

The Titans, who are now 3-0 on the season, had a couple of good looks early in the matchup but could not find the range and the game remained scoreless until just seconds before the end of the first half.

Sophia Carroll got an open look from outside the box and struck it past the keeper to give the Titans the lead. It was Carroll’s first goal of the season.

The Titans came out in the second half looking strong and Darien Davis scored her second goal of the season just 39 seconds into the half.

Sixteen minutes later it was Noreen Eriksen finding the back of the net on a nice header to make it 3-0.

Nathali Da Silva rounded out the scoring with her third goal of the year, punching it past the Southwestern Illinois keeper.

“The girls have competed well considering all the injuries and the limited roster we have right now,” Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer coach Jeff Carr said.

“They have battled, they have competed and they have gotten the job done. Today wasn’t pretty having 41 shots and only finishing four but we played a lot better in the second half.”

The Titans were the first of four games at Titan Soccer Complex on Sunday.
