BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Following excellent performances during the week, women’s soccer’s Keira McCarthy and football’s Kenny Johnston have been selected as the Mike Erdman Auto Group Athletes of the Week.

McCarthy provided the lone goal in the Panthers’ 1-0 victory over Lynn on Saturday. The sophomore striker was tackled in the box while trying to dribble past her defender, earning a penalty kick for FIT.

The local product made the Fighting Knights pay for the error, calmly slotting the ball into the back of the net.

The score gives McCarthy a team-high eight goals on the season, tied for third most in the conference. The former Space Coast United player also ranks third in the league in points with 16.

Despite coming up short in the inaugural Coastal Classic against West Florida, tight end Kenny Johnston had a monster game to help give the Panthers a last ditch chance at the end of the contest.
