Space Coast To Host First Veterans Prayer Breakfast, Col. Danny McKnight To Keynote

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Leaders from the Space Coast faith-based community and several non-profit organizations will come together to sponsor the first annual Space Coast Veterans Day of Prayer.

The event will take place on November 2 at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place. The purpose of the Veterans Day of Prayer is to inspire communities to pray for our military veterans and their families and to mobilize spiritual support on both the local and global levels.

The keynote speaker of the event will be retired U.S. Army Col. Danny R. McKnight. His 28-year military career included combat duty on two occasions to Panama 1989 and Somalia 1993 (basis for the Book and Movie “Black Hawk Down”).

Col. McKnight’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (2 awards), the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Master Parachutist Badge with Combat Star, and the Pathfinder Badge.

He and his wife, Linda, reside in Rockledge, Florida.Other speakers at event will include Rob Medina, James L. Begley Jr., Jeanne Harris Weaver and Rev. Eric Davidson.

Medina is the Director of Community & Military Relations for U.S. Congressman Bill Posey. As Director of Community Relations, he acts as the liaison to District 8 constituents, state and local elected officials, veterans, business and community leaders and area youth.

Medina is an ordained reverend and serves as Director of Ministry, which oversees several ministries at The House Church in Palm Bay.

Begley, a graduate of Asbury College and Asbury Theological Seminary, has more than 36 years of experience pastoring and counseling a broad spectrum of people in their life’s journeys, coming alongside to assist them in experiencing wholeness to healing in fulfilling their potential.

Along with his Masters of Divinity, Begley also is a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor (BCPC) serving as a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and is ordained with the American Evangelistic Association.

Weaver will represent our Gold Star families at the breakfast. She is a talented painter and author, having devoted her life to the study of various art forms.

After her son Todd was killed in Afghanistan, Jeanne turned to her God-given talent to help her learn how to navigate through her new state of being, and looks forward to sharing this journey with others.

Rev. Davidson, is a retired U.S. Army chaplain, and serves as the Chaplain for the Special Needs and Veteran Horses and Heroes Program at the Osceola Therapeutic Riding Center (McCormick Research Institute).

He has dedicated his life to helping veterans overcome PTSD, while enriching the lives of each individual and family as they reintegrate into civilian life.
