Eastern Florida State Baseball Opens Season With Big Win Over South Florida State 15-4

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College baseball team came out swinging Friday afternoon, hitting five home runs in a 15-4 win over South Florida State College in Avon Park.

After going down 1-0 in the first inning, the Titans scored seven runs in the top of the second inning behind home runs by Elian Merejo and Jacob McFadden. It was the first of two home runs for Merejo who went 4-for-4 in the game.

Dylan Owens added a grand slam in the fourth inning and Jasson Corniel hit a solo home run to lead off the seventh inning and had three hits in the game.Sammy Duran also had three hits for the Titans.

Tommy Romero picked up the win, allowing one run in five innings of work. Jack Corbell pitched four innings of relief to pick up the save.

The Titans will host Polk State at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Bochy Field on the Melbourne campus.
